5 Applications of Robotic Automation

The use of industrial robots is growing rapidly in a number of industries. From automotive manufacturing to computer chip assembly, they have infiltrated every field are it looks like they’re here to stay. The market leaders saw their shares swell by a whopping 35% while the overall market grew by 15% in 2015. The current market is expected to triple in size by 2025. These statistics are clear indications to the enormous growth, benefits and applications that these state of the art machines bring with them.

Robotic Automation is being introduced into a number of fields and it is important to be aware of all avenues where they might be useful.

AUTOMOTIVE

Vehicle manufacturing is a long and complicated process that requires some immaculate work including welding and doing bolts in hard to reach places. This means that the amount of precision required is quite high. Humans are organisms of varying attention levels meaning that it is difficult for them to reproduce the same quality of work time and time again due to a variety of reasons. Robots however, are computer programmed and controlled, meaning they can work accurately and repeatedly on the same task without getting bored or faltering.

CONSUMER PRODUCTS

Robots are used in a variety of consumer product categories like food, pharmaceutical and electrical appliances. It is common belief that robots are only used in the manufacture of large scale industrial products however, that is quite distant from the truth of things. Robots help produce numerous everyday items with minimal errors and time lag.

MEDICAL

Medicines and surgical equipment require precision handling in order to get things right every time throughout mass production and formulation. This is where robots come into play, handling complicated assembly and manufacturing while reducing the risks of human errors.

ELECTRONICS

Electronics are one of the most major industries where robotic automation has become an imperative component, one that the industries might have a hard time functioning without. The area where they are most useful is the soldering and manufacture of computer chips. Those tiny brains that go into almost every electrical appliance are almost impossible to be mass produced without robotic automation. Robots help large manufacturers to churn out and sell millions of electrical appliances of all shapes and sizes around the world with few or no flaws.

PACKAGING

The wrapping and boxing has almost completely been handed over to robots in most manufacturing units. Capable of demonstrating extraordinary precision in terms of loading and sealing items into their designated storage containers all the way from filling liquids in exact quantities to sealing and placing them in crates, robots have stolen the show by making life easier for both employees and the businesses themselves.

Robotic automation is a new chapter in human evolution and it is expected to stay relevant for quite a long time to come. For businesses it has really become an investment that is hard to forego these days given the enormous applications and benefits that come with it.
